There are two projects that might require me to take extended time (approximately 3 months) away from this substack. I don’t wish to talk too much about the projects, since I’ve found that talking about a project and finishing a project are two different tasks. I’ll say that they involve fiction writing, but that’s it.
Deep work sometimes requires not spending creative energies elsewhere, like the non-fiction writing I do here. While that would normally mean publishing silence, I’ve got a backlog of unpublished posts. Many I’m excited about, but felt it wasn’t the “right time” to publish. At the rate of one per week, I might have enough to continue publishing during the entire time I’m writing other projects.
It’s also possible that while writing, I’ll want to procrastinate take a day off from my fiction writing to publish here, or be inspired with a non-fiction idea. We’ll see. I’m not sure what it looks like yet. I just know I’ve wanted to write one of these projects since before Children’s Justice, and there is a limited window for both projects I have in mind. Both are attainable but require work.

Like I said, publishing will continue here, but I might disappear into my cave for some periods to complete the next project. We’ll see. Can’t always predict what a project will ask of me.
Another update:
At some point, I plan to release the articles I’ve written here as a print book - maybe multiple print books. I plan to give a free digital copy to paying subscribers. Writing the above projects takes priority, so this might be a release for winter.
For that, I’m debating releasing these articles as 3-4 short books or one large one. Which would you prefer? One large book or several small ones? Let me know.
Also, if there is anything else you’d like to share - feedback, requests for future articles or podcasts, etc. now is the time to share before I go into writing mode. Send a reply or leave a comment.
Sounds great Brendon. Thanks for your work.
Exciting news, Brendon. Best wishes for creative flow.
